Many small business owners find there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything was done that is required of them, let alone find any time at all to work on the changes that are necessary to take their business “to the next level. If you keep doing things the way you have been, you will probably keep getting the same results. Start the year off right by managing your time more efficiently. If you really want to grow, you have to change the way you manage your time. Address your business in the following order and timeline.

  • Before the end of the year, make a written list of the three most important things you need to change in the new year.
  • Pull your calendar for next year and write in a minimum of three hours a week (and inform your staff) that you will set aside to only work on these three issues until they have been completed. Agree that you will not take calls, see clients/customers, work with staff, run errands, open or view mail or do anything else that is not specific to the three items you need to work on. Close your door if necessary.
  • When you are within one month of one of the three items being completed, add another item that will take its place.

Continue to do this all year. You will be amazed how much you can accomplish when you really set your mind to it and don’t allow anything to get in the way.
