We've been speaking all of our lives - in conversations, in providing instructions, and in making one's needs be known. And many people equate proficiency in daily speaking with a proficiency in delivering a presentation. But just because one can flirt with the pizza delivery person or provide directions to the next town, that does not mean that the same person can speak effectively to CEOs, CFOs, associates or potential clients. That's where I come in. My 25 years of experience as a professional entertainer (actor, standup comedian, filmmaker) and as a presentation coach and motivational speaker uniquely qualify me to help others become better presenters, whether delivering in a one-on-one situation or speaking to an audience of hundreds. I believe I can help you become a better speaker. In fact, with my in-depth coaching program, I can make you a GREAT speaker - interesting, engaging and exciting. I won't promise it will be easy because it's not. Change never is. But I can promise that after working hard as one of my coaching members, you will become a far superior speaker. Improving one's skills as a presenter does not happen overnight or in three quick lessons. The basics of excellent presentation can be explained in a short period of time but putting those new skills to work does not happen quickly. As speakers learn new techniques of developing and presenting information, there is a tendency, particularly early in the process, for a speaker to fall back into old, comfortable habits when those new techniques prove to be more difficult to adopt than originally expected. That is why I developed my coaching programs. I want to ensure that my coaching members not only learn the techniques for becoming excellent speakers and presenters but that each also utilize those techniques over time. The extended nature of my coaching programs allows me and the coaching members to focus on making those techniques part of their repertoire. I use live viewing of presentations as well as viewing of videotaped talks to assess each person's speaking ability, actively coach each member and track his or her progress. When I work with a coaching member, we drill just like an athlete drills. We may spend an entire session working just on "taking the stage" - how a speaker first appears to an audience. Not only do my coaching members receive direct, face-to-face, individual coaching, each member is also entitled to contact me in a "speaking emergency" with up to two hours of phone calls to help coach any aspect of the speaking process. In addition, each coaching member receives DVDs, CDs, books and the option of my expertise in writing or editing a presentation or the creation or editing of a PowerPoint presentation. My coaching also focuses on vocal power and dynamic range, eliminating audible pauses, eye contact, the use of hands, the importance of moving with a purpose as well as improving the effectiveness of visual aids and the proper delivery of the proper message. The polished speaker, confident in his or her message as well as the delivery of that message, is more effective than the speaker who throws something together at the last moment. My job is to make YOU that confident speaker.
