The primary challenge is between their ears. I listen to people as part of what I do. I listen intently to the words they use. Words have power. Words are the building blocks of everything we do.

Listening to sales and business people lately I hear a lot of self defeating language.

"Steve, you have to get real, the economy is really bad" or "Steve, I have been doing this for years and never have I seen it so bad" or "Price is what everyone is looking for" or "This is what I do and I can't change" or "Cash flow is bad."

The problem with language like the examples I give is that it is limiting. We can limit our future with limiting thoughts and words. Words program our subconscious. When we use words that are limiting we gather evidence to prove them to be true. All you have to do right now is listen to the news or read the papers and bingo... proof of the above examples... "See, I told you the economy is bad"... is what your ego would say to the headlines.

The top producers and entrepreneurs keep pushing beyond limits. They do not use limiting language. They only see success in their minds and it reflects in the words that they use.

What is your market share? Is what I ask the person who complains about the economy... How could you make it good? Is what I ask the person who complains that they have never seen it so bad... Price... ? What if you said "oh, we will never be the lowest, should we end the call right now?"... my point is that your world is created from your "insides" out... rom what you think and say you create your future.

What kind of future would you like?

Think about what you would like more of and use words that match that ideal future. Next, match your behavior to your words. Keep pushing beyond limits, see only good things in your minds eye.

If you need help disciplining your thinking and speaking, get a coach... I know a good one... call me.

When I ask clients "what has made the difference for you?", they reply... "you helped me change my thinking and head into what seemed very uncomfortable... you helped me do something that I would not have done previously?"...

This is what it takes to have a new future... to move beyond the primary challenge... the words and thoughts that keep us stuck.

Gratefully yours,
Steve
